Mytra is an instrumental progressive metal band from Hungary formed early in 1996, after Robert Hocza (guitar, vocals), Krisztian Bekei (bass) and Gabor Somodi (keyboards) left the disbanded band Prophecy and joined Gabor Bartok (guitar) and Laszlo Zabari (drums). The band has had numerous member changes, but completed their line up with Larion Olah (keyboards) and Zoltan Almasi (bass). In 2005, Gabor Devenyi (guitars) and Roland Lovas (bass) joined the band.
Mytra has released three demo recordings. "Meaningless Heavenly Being" was the first release and was produced by Backwards Production in 2000. In 2007, the band self recorded a five track instrumental demo "Ecotone." This was followed up in 2009 when they self released a demo "Sagittarius”.
