Namor was a sludge metal band from Sacramento in California, formed in 2003.
Previously a punk / reggae outfit named Koi (formed in 1999), Namor changed its name to Giant Squid in 2004 to avoid issues with Marvel Comics over the use of the name Namor, especially when rumours of a film began to circulate.
Namor actually changed its name to Giant Squid during the recording of that band's debut album, Metridium Field.
