'neath was a progressive death metal band from Brisbane, Queensland. The band originally formed in 2001 and consisted of members Tim Dowdle (guitars), David Lingard (bass), Jonathan Moore (drums) and Boyd Potts (vocals, keyboards).
In 2003, 'neath began heavily rehearsing their own original material, developing their sound in the studio rather than through live performance. In 2006 'neath self-released their four song self-produced demo, In Perfect Flaw. The band was then signed to Obsidian records and in 2007 released their first full-length album, The Spiders Sleep. In 2008, The Small Untruths, was released through Obsidian Records.
Touted as Australia's answer to Opeth, 'neath skillfully worked the contrast between crushing heaviness and moody atmosphere, switching between furious death vocals and clean, ambient passages. 'neath split up on April 26th 2012.
