Nightward is an Italian melodic metalcore / melodic death metal band from Busto Arsizio in Lombardy, formed in 1997.

Nightward were born in 1997 out of an idea of guitarist Alessandro Battioli, willing to set up a melodic metal band inspired by the typical Swedish style in vogue during those years thanks to bands like At The Gates, Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, and Carcass.
In May 1998 they make their debut on the scene with a 3 songs demo-tape, "Beyond The Golden Gates", a mix of melodies and aggressively absorbing harmonies. This first work receives excellent reviews on all fronts, and even is awarded as “top demo” on the famous Italian magazine Grind Zone.
As the time goes by, thanks to the experience gained on many clubs’ stages all around Italy, the new compositions evolve through a more incisive sound, with an evident urge to experimentation. So, between 2002
