NIRVANA 2002 is a Swedish death metal act from Edsbyn formed in 1988. The band released several demos in the late eighties/ early nineties but didn´t get signed and therefore didn´t release a studio album back then. In 2009 Relapse Records released a compilation featuring most of the demo material recorded by the band.
Besides being one of the earliest pioneers of Swedish death metal, NIRVANA 2002 are probably mostly know for lead vocalist Orvar Säfström´s involvement with ENTOMBED. He recorded the vocals for the 1990 "Crawl" EP by ENTOMBED and toured with them on the tour following the release of the EP.
