OPENSPACE is a Progressive Metal band from Wolomin, Poland. The band was assembled in early 2004 by the drummer Rafa Szulkowski and brothers Robert and Marcin Zahn on bass and guitar, respectively. All of the members shared a passion for different spectrums of progressive rock music, whether it was classics like Yes and Rush or modern acts like Porcupine Tree and Dream Theater.
The band settled into a quintet formation for the release of their first demo "The Expanding Universe", but it wasn't until the release of their second demo, in 2006, that the band finally found their frontman and keyboard player Marcin Korzeniewski.. The quartet swiftly began working on their first full length release and January 2008 was when the self-titled debut finally saw the light of day. Four of the album's nine compositions were sung in English, four in Polish with an instrumental break between the two sections.
