Optical Faze is a metalcore band from Brasilia in Brazil, formed in 2000.
Optical Faze's original lineup was Mateus Araújo (vocals/guitars), Jorge Rabelo (guitars), Pedro Gabriel (keyboards/synths), Renato Carvalho (drums) and Vicente Júnior (bass). By 2001 the band was playing in big festivals such as the Porão do Rock.
The band's first CD, "I", was released in 2004. Two days after the launch show for the album, lead singer Marco Lindos left. An unsuccessful search for a suitable replacement lead the band to turn to guitarist Mateus Araújo for vocals.
Throughout 2011 the band wrote the material for their first full-length album in eight years, recorded through January 2012 at Surplus Sound studio, Los Angeles, USA.
The album, titled The Pendulum Burns, was produced and mixed by Rhys Fulber, was mastered by Maor Appelbaum and has guest appearances by guitarist Jed Simon and singer Leah Randi. The album was released in Brazil on January
