OV HELL is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 2009 by ex-GORGOROTH bassist King Ov Hell (Tom Cato Visnes)and DIMMU BORGIR's vocalist Shagrath (Stian Tomt Thoresen.)
OV HELL was born off the ashes of another band: GOD SEED, which was formed by Ov Hell and Gaahl after they lost the name rights to the name GORGOROTH to that band's guitarist Infernus. After the dispute, Gaahl and Ov Hell decided to start a project together but after a few live presentations Gaahl quit the band (and metal music altogether), leaving Ov Hell with music ready to be put into an album, with drum tracks already recorded by Frost and guitar tracks already recorded by Teloch and Ice Dale.
Ov Hell was soon joined by DIMMU BORGIR's vocalist Shagrath, who wrote lyrics and recorded the vocals for the music that was meant to be for the first GOD SEED album. This
