US band PHANTOM BLUE was formed in Hollywood by Michelle Meldrum (guitars) and Nicole Couch (guitars) in 1987. They soon hooked up with Linda McDonald (drums), Gigi Hangach (vocals) and Deborah Armstrong (bass) to complete the line-up. They were signed by Shrapnel Records, and hit the studio shortly after. By this time Armstrong decided that she wanted out though, and was replaced by Kim Nielsen (bass).
1989 saw their début album "Phantom Blue" released, and a promotional video for the track "Why Call It Love" helped the band to achieve a successful European tour, both of which came courtesy of their European label Roadrunner Records.
When they returned to the US the band were approached by many labels that wanted to sign them, and eventually Phantom Blue decided to hook up with Geffen Records. Couch decided to leave the band prior to the recording of the bands sophomore effort though, and
