The Plasmatics were an American punk rock/heavy metal band from New York City, formed by Rod Swenson and Wendy O. Williams in 1977. The band was known for their controversial live shows, which ended up in vocalist Wendy O. Williams being arrested for public indecency. The band is also notable for collaborating with Motorhead and being the only heavy metal band to guest star on the Canadian sketch comedy SCTV from the 70's/80's. The band broke up in 1987 after the release of their fourth album Maggots: The Record.
