QUINTESSENZA is a progressive metal band from Volterra, Italy. Formed in 1996, the band consists of Diego Ribechini (vocals), Gabriele "GabbeQnz" Moretti (guitar, e-bow), Federico Razzi (bass, chapman's stick), Filippo Fantozzi (keyboards), and Federico "Dede" dello Sbarba (drums).
The band self released a demo, Venere, in 2000. The band’s full length debut, Pharmakon was released in 2004 and followed by Cosmogenesi in2006 and Nei Giardini di Babilonia in 2010. Quintessenza musically draws heavily on the Italian progressive heritage, mixing the metal of bands like Dream Theater and Pain Of Salvation with the Rock Progressivo Italiano of Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso, PFM and Area.
