Red Sparowes is a post-rock band formed in 2003, from Los Angeles. Originally based on the work of Bryant Meyer and Jeff Caxide of Isis, Red Sparowes has released three studio albums of sprawling music can be undeniably heavy, but a bit lighter on the heavy than most, and quite heavy on ambiance and atmosphere. Incorporating atmospheric sludge metal into its sound without ever straying decidedly into metal territory, Red Sparowes has been included as a metal-related artist.
With song titles as long and bombastic as the music itself, Red Sparowes convey their message through these titles instead of using lyrics. Red Sparowes are one of the more interesting post-rock and metal bands, in a genre that has already threatened to become cliche and uninspired.
