REQUIEM AETERNAM were formed in 1995 in Uruguay and play a blackened type of Death Metal with progressive traits. The progressive elements are most notably in the softer instrumental sections during songs. The original line-up enlisted Pablo MAGALLANES (guitars), José ROMERO (vocals, guitars) and Martin LOPEZ (drums) and Martin MENDEZ (bass) before they joined OPETH.
The band released their debut "Eternally Dying" in 1998, "Philosopher" and "Destiny Man" followed in 2004 and 2010 respectively. José ROMERO is the only remaining active member from the original line-up.
