Retch formed out of the ashes of the shortlived Japanese black metal group Darkcorpse, and play within a more thrash-oriented vein of black metal than their predecessor. Unlike the four-piece of Darkcorpse, Retch is only composed of two members: bassist/guitarist/vocalist T. Giles (also known as Septmus) and drummer/vocalist T. Smith (also known as Thom "Skuld").
Retch's raw, furious brand of extreme thrash - as heard on their 2018 debut album Anathema - is recommended for fans of other blackened thrash bands such as Sauron, Raise Hell, Inferno, and Aura Noir, as well as blackened death metal acts such as Angelcorpse.
