RHETORICA is a progressive-metal band from Baia Mare, Romania. Formed in 1997 as the result of the fusion of two bands, Dirty Shirt and Legion, they decided after a successful performance in the Rock Fest Seini festival to make the newly-created group a permanent one.
Until 1999, the band performed regularly in Romania and received several awards. Due to personal circumstances Rhetorica was forced into a long hiatus that ended in 2004, when the members re-united and re-formed the outfit.
The band released their first full-length, Gânduri, (which means “thoughts” in English), in 2005, to critical acclaim and giving the band the platform to secure more live gigs.
Rhetorica play a melodic brand of progressive-metal, and cite bands like Pink Floyd, Opeth, Deep Purple, ELP and Dream Theater as their influences.
