Hailing from Manchester, England, Rox were a glam rock band heavily influenced by Kiss and Angel, who sprang to life in 1981 (as Venom) with Mark Anthony (vocals), Red Hot Red (born Ian Burke; guitar), Paul Diamond (b.
Paul Hopwood; guitar), Gary Maunsell (bass) and Tony Fitzgerald (drums). They soon built up a loyal following and received a great deal of attention from Sounds. A year later Fitzgerald left and was replaced by Bernie Emerald (b. Bernard Nuttall).
With the departure of Anthony they recruited their roadie, Kevin Read, who took on the name of "Kick Ass" Kevin Kozak. After reported threats from Newcastle's black metal merchants of the same name they decided to change theirs to Rox.
Maunsell was then replaced by Billy Beaman before they set out on tour. After the release of the EP Hot Love In The City, in August 1992 they signed to Music For Nations. The
