Soma Ras is a blackened death metal band from Sacramento in California, formed in 2011.
In early 2011, former guitarist of Embrace the End Spencer Daly, and good long time friend Flint Marshall(GBAA) decided to team up with Guitarist John Abernathy. (Conducting from the Grave) to make music again for the first time in over four years. Flint and Spencer were also formerly band mates in the local Sacramento outfit known as Cyanide Era. Then finally, front man Monte Barnard and Bass Driller Ryan Ausbun became part of the onslaught of brutality.
The goal was to make an old school style death metal band with a contemporary Blackened death metal feel."' Veiled in Deceit' is the first Offering From our upcoming E.p. Recorded At Castle Ultimate with Zack Oren.
