Hard rock guitarist Steve Jones first rose to fame in the 1970s as guitarist in the Sex Pistols.
Jones and drummer Paul Cook founded the band in 1975. In a short but turbulent career, the band recorded just a single studio album, on which Jones played guitar and all but one of the bass tracks. On December 1, 1976, in one of the most notorious incidents the Sex Pistols were involved in, Jones caused nationwide outrage in the UK by swearing at drunken TV presenter Bill Grundy, after Grundy had made suggestive remarks to Siouxie Sioux. Jones said to Grundy "You dirty old sod. You dirty old man", "You dirty bastard", "You dirty fucker" and "What a fucking rotter."
When the Sex Pistols broke up in 1978, Jones and Cook formed The Professionals. A car accident and drug problems saw the band break up in 1982.
