The Body is an American sludge metal / drone metal band, formed in 1999 in Providence, Rhode Island, United States. The band's music is experimental in nature, also drawing on diverse styles such as drone, noise and hardcore punk, including powerviolence.
The Body released its eponymous first full-length in 2004. Six years of touring and small releases passed before the second full-length album, All The Waters of the Earth Turn to Blood, was released in collaboration with the Assembly of Light choir. This album was met with some critical acclaim. The band followed this in 2011 with a full length collaboration with noise project Braveyoung, called Nothing Passes.
Prior to releasing a new full-length release, Christs, Redeemers, in autumn 2013 through Thrill Jockey Records, The Body released an EP, Master, We Perish in April 2013.
