Transient is a grindcore band from Portland, Oregon.
Transient formed in November of 2007 after the breakup of Massive Meat Split (Julie, Dave, Adam) and Landlord (Krysta).
Massive Meat Split played for over 3 years. In the first year the band included Katherine (Sei Hexe and Nasalrod) on bass. Later, Massive Meat Split became Dave, Julie, Adam and Dwaz. Its sound was an eclectic experimental fusion of thrashcore and grindcore with erratic vocals and saxophone parts. The band recorded a few releases, toured the West Coast, and enjoyed a long time local following before its end in late 2007.
Some members had begun writing material influenced by early grind acts such as Napalm Death, Extreme Noise Terror, Terrorizer, Nausea, and modern classics Nasum and Discordance Axis which caused dissension between Dwaz Cosmobot (vocalist/saxophonist) and the rest of the band.
Meanwhile Landlord, from Flagstaff, Arizona was relocating to Portland.
