Tumulus(Russia) ("A Burial Mound") was formed in 1997. The founders were musicians from Russian viking/doom metal band SCALD, which ended its existence in that year, due to the vocalist's untimely death. As the basis for inspiration, the musicians took old slavonic spell songs and slavonic ritual music. Lyrics are in Russian, Eastern Oldslavonic and English. After two demos - "Krada" '1999 and "Vo luzeh" '2000 the band has been signed to Wroth Emitter for their first full-length studio album. Great Russian folk singer Marina Sokolova (SEDMAYA VODA) was invited as additional vocalist. The band has already played at several festivals in Eastern Europe.
