Wendy O. Williams was an American punk rock/heavy metal musician born on May 28, 1949 in Rochester, New York. She is best known as the vocalist in the band Plasmatics and is often considered 'The Queen of Shock Rock'. In between the Plasmatics releases Coup D'Etat and Maggots, she released two solo albums and after the disbanding of The Plasmatics she had a short-lived rap metal project with fellow Plasmatics member Wes Beech called Wendy O. Williams' Ultrafly and the Hometown Girls.
She retired from the music scene in 1991 and moved to Storrs, Connecticut with long-time companion and manager Rod Swendon. She committed suicide on April 6, 1998. Many musicians paid tribute after her death, perhaps most famously Lemmy dedicating the song No Class to her on Motörhead's 1999 live album Everything Louder Than Everyone Else.
