The band named itself after a first nation chief called "Wind in his hair" from the movie "Dances with wolves", to show solidarity with indigenous peoples and their struggles without exploiting native identity in any form.
Wind In His Hair describes its music as melodic neocrust or feral crust punk, with influences ranging from atmospheric black metal to hardcore punk.
