Woburn House was an atmospheric progressive sludge metal band from Bonn in Germany, formed in 2005.
Woburn House disbanded in 2014.
The band started in 2005 as a 3 piece, consisting of Christian KOLF (guitar/vocals), Fabian FABIAN (Bass, Vocals) and Florian TOYKA (Drums), and recorded two albums in this configuration, the debut "Message to Ourselves Outside the Dreaming Machine" in 2006 and "Monstrous Manoeuvres in the Mushroom Maze" in 2009. As of 2011, FABIAN left and the remaining duo recorded their third album "Sleep Summer Storm" without him.
The band's music is takes a unique position in post-metal by combining Sludge, Post-Metal and Floydian psychedelica with dissonant chords and highly chromatic doom riffs. The earlier records sound like a slightly less aggressive version of INTRONAUT's first albums. Their 2011 "Sleep Summer Storm" is softer, with lots of dreamy clean guitar arpeggios resembling FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM or even ANATHEMA's "Judgement".
