"Seals the Sense" is an EP released in February 1994 by UK doom metal act Paradise Lost. The EP was released through Music For Nations. Paradise Lost had enjoyed great commercial success with their 4th full-length studio album "Icon (1993)" so it was only natural to try and squeeze the lemon by releasing "Seals the Sense".

Artistically I´m not sure I´d call this release a great success though. There are 4 tracks on the 21:25 minute long EP. "Embers Fire" and "True Belief" are taken directly off the "Icon" album and really just take up space if you already got that album. One song from the album had been acceptable, but if you ask me two are just an excuse for not having enough original material to put on the EP. "Sweetness" is the only original track on the EP and it sounds like leftover material from the "Icon" sessions. It was recorded at a later time though. A rather forgettable track if you ask me. The last track on the EP is a live version of "Your Hand in Mine". The studio version of this track was originally featured on "Shades of God (1992)". The live version on this EP, is a pretty standard version. It´s nothing too impressive and that is in large part due to the fact that Nick Holmes doesn´t hit the notes. He is out of key more than one time during this track. It´s strange to me, that you´d release a version where the lead vocalist is so obvously out of key and especially when it happens so many times.

So "Seals the Sense" is what I would call "a fan release only". Both "Embers Fire" and "True Belief" are great songs, but they are already available on "Icon". "Sweetness" is mediocre at best and with those out of key vocals on "Your Hand in Mine" my overall rating isn´t higher than 2 - 2.5 stars.
