"Piles Of Festering Decomposition" is an EP release by US, Ohio based death metal act 200 Stab Wounds. The EP was released through Maggot Stomp in April 2020. Three versions of the EP exists. The digital version features three tracks, the cassette tape version features one further bonus track ("Digested Desire"), and the vinyl version adds a bonus track to the three core tracks and the cassette tape bonus track (the Carcass cover "Ruptured in Purulence").
200 Stab Wounds play a brutal, heavy, and relatively varied type of death metal, which features elements from many subgenres. You´ll find both deathgrind blasting, ultra heavy groove laden slam oriented parts, technical parts, tempo changes, and a general brutality level which is over the standards of the genre. It´s not particularly unique sounding, but it´s no less effective. "Piles Of Festering Decomposition" is a well produced release further strengthening the feeling of being beaten to death, which I´m sure the band were aiming for. A promising first release and a 3 - 3.5 star (65%) rating is warranted.
