Most consider this their least favourite of THE 3RD AND THE MORTAL's first three albums. I think it's because that Gothic vibe is all but gone and it does sound more modern. This one is experimental and we get some variety but it does retain that atmosphere and melancholy from the first two records. I never thought the number three could look creepy until i saw this album cover. I think you have to give them some credit for trying different things here though. The angular guitar melodies on "Sophisticated Vampires" is an example, or the screaming on "Did You". That spacey atmosphere on "The Wooden Lodge" is cool. "Hollow" is dark and creepy to start but each track seems to take us to a different place. I would recommend any of their first three recordings.
