"Goremageddon: The Saw and the Carnage Done" is the 3rd full-length studio album by Belgian death metal act Aborted. The album was released through Listenable Records in April 2003.
The music on the album pretty much continue down the same brutal death metal path as the music on the predecessor "Engineering the Dead (2001)". The music is technically well played with tempo changes and a combination of deep growling vocals and higher pitched sneers. As a new thing Aborted include some guitar solos on the album and that´s a nice feature which provide the music with variation and dynamics. The quality of the tracks is generally high but a bit more variation between tracks could have made the album an overall more interesting listen. The gory imagery and lyrics are also in place on "Goremageddon: The Saw and the Carnage Done", which is pretty obvious by looking at the cover artwork or reading songtitles like "Clinical Colostomy", "Parasitic Flesh Resection" and "Medical Deviance".
The sound production is powerful and raw and suits the music well. "Goremageddon: The Saw and the Carnage Done" is upon conclusion, just as the case was with it´s predecessor, an above average death metal release, and at this point Aborted began to show potential beyond being a goregrind/death metal Carcass clone. A 3.5 star (70%) rating is warranted.
