"Corrupt Minds" is the debut full-length studio album by US, Wisconsin based crossover thrash metal act Acrophet. It was released through Triple X Records in the US and through Roadrunner Records in Europe in January 1988. Acrophet formed in 1983 and disbanded in 1991 after releasing two full-length studio albums. Both produced by Death (the band) manager Eric Greif.

The material on "Corrupt Minds" is a combination of hardcore influenced crossover thrash metal, more regular early 80s influenced thrash metal (very early Metallica and Slayer are influences), and the odd nod towards traditional heavy metal. It´s raw, it´s simple, and it´s powerful. Despite their very young age (Acrophet had an average age of 17 on this album), Acrophet are a well playing act and lead vocalist/bassist Dave Baumann also has a powerful voice and a decent delivery. Acrophet are a little late to the game, and therefore they don´t come off as the most original sounding crossover thrash metal act from the 80s, but if you listen to later retro sounding crossover thrash metal artists like Municipal Waste or Gama Bomb, you just know Acrophet haven´t lived in vain.

"Corrupt Minds" is a well produced release and the tracks sound raw and powerful. The only minor issue I have is the lead guitar sound, which features an effect that makes the lead guitar sound like it was recorded in a bathroom. Still for an early 1988 crossover thrash metal production, it´s perfectly alright. Upon conclusion "Corrupt Minds" is a good quality debut album by Acrophet and a 3 - 3.5 star (65%) rating is warranted.
