"Faded Glory" is the 2nd full-length studio album by US, Wisconsin based crossover thrash metal act Acrophet. It was released through Triple X Records in the US and through Roadrunner Records in Europe in 1990. It´s the successor to "Corrupt Minds" from 1988. Acrophet formed in 1983 and disbanded in 1991 after releasing two full-length studio albums. Both produced by Death (the band) manager Eric Greif.
Stylistically the material on "Faded Glory" continue the crossover thrash metal style of "Corrupt Minds (1988)". The music features both hardcore punk, thrash metal, and a few traditional heavy metal traits. The production is a little more clear and less savage sounding than the sound production of the debut, but there is still plenty of power and rawness left and the more detailed sound production and the generally more sophisticated songwriting make "Faded Glory" a natural step forward for Acrophet.
The musicianship is strong on all posts and lead vocalist/bassist Dave Baumann has a strong voice and a commanding raw delivery. If you ever wondered where acts like Municipal Waste and Gama Bomb got their inspiration (other than from the more known acts like Nuclear Assault and D.R.I.), Acrophet would be a good guess and it is fans of artists like those retro crossover thrash metal acts that are recommended to give "Faded Glory" a listen. A 3.5 star (70%) rating is deserved.
