UMUR
"Back from the Dead" is the debut full-length studio album by US hard rock act Adler. The album was released through New Ocean Media in November 2012. The band was formed by former Guns´N´Roses drummer Steven Adler. Hence the band name.
The music on the album is pretty traditional vers/chorus structured hard rock in the polished end of the scale (some tracks feature more bite than others). The band may have a glam image, but this is not as such glam metal. The musicians are skilled and lead vocalist Jacob Bunton has a strong and powerful vocal delivery. He doesn´t have the most distinct sounding voice but he sure is skilled and delivers a convincing vocal performance throughout. The band chose to record a video for "The One That You Hated" and that´s a pretty good choice, because it´s a damn catchy track with an infectious chorus. The lyrical topics evolve quite a bit around bad choices and drug abuse, probably relating to Steven Adler´s well documented struggles with drug addiction. Songtitles like "Own Worst Enemy" and "Habit" also reflect that.
"Back from the Dead" is both a well produced and well written/dynamic album with both hard rocking tracks and ballads/power ballads. A bit more grit and sleaze would have made it even more enjoyable to my ears, because when it´s most polished it´s a bit too nice. A 3.5 star (70%) rating is deserved.
