"PCP Torpedo" is an EP release by US, Massachusetts based grindcore act Agoraphobic Nosebleed. The EP was released through Hydra Head Records in 1998. Agoraphobic Nosebleed formed in 1994 and they released a demo, an EP, and a couple of splits before releasing "PCP Torpedo".
"PCP Torpedo" is by far the most professional and well produced release from Agoraphobic Nosebleed up until then. The previous releases all featured quite different grindcore styles (and even a tour into powerviolence on the split with Laceration), but "PCP Torpedo" sounds like a more mature release, and if you´re familiar with some of the subsequent material by the band, this EP sounds closer to that style than anything which came before. It´s ultra aggressive grindcore with both raw snarling hardcore vocals and deeper growling death grunts, and there are surprisingly varied riff- and rhythm styles featured on the EP.
10 tracks and a total playing time of 6:23 minutes (all tracks seque into each other so the EP almost feels like one long but strangely abrupt song). It´s all over before you know it, but there are so many different, powerful, and interesting songwriting ideas within those few minutes and "PCP Torpedo" is overall a high quality grindcore release from Agoraphobic Nosebleed. This is the point where they began to show excellence...a 3.5 star (70%) rating is deserved.
