UMUR
"Adhesion, Aversion..." is the debut full-length studio album by Canadian, Montreal based death metal act Atheretic. The album was released through Neoblast Records in May 2001.
On "Adhesion, Aversion..." the band play a fairly standard type brutal technical death metal style. The growling vocals are completely unintelligible, the tracks change pace at the blink of an eye and feature loads of breaks and other twists. Apply checkmarks accordingly. The band are technically well playing but it would be a lie to call the music particularly original or to say that Atheretic have a distinct recognisable sound. When that is said "Adhesion, Aversion..." is when it comes to the actual music a decent quality release.
What´s not so enjoyable about the album is the sound production, which at times appear a bit amaturish. The few guitar solos that are featured on the album are placed so low in the mix that they are almost impossible to hear. Still it doesn´t completely ruin the listening experience as most other parts of the sound production are decent sounding and "Adhesion, Aversion..." generally comes off as a pretty decent quality release. It´s a far cry from being original though and I´d say a 3 star (60%) rating is fair.
