Satanik metal...
Genre: black thrash
Fast and furious, primitive and dirty, Barbatos' "Fury and Fear, Flesh and Bone" is a true onslaught of raw black thrash along the lines of Hellhammer/Celtic Frost and early Slayer. Most of the songs are built around primitive fast punky thrash riffs and simple uptempo drumming - that is, there is a lot of aggression but not a lot of variation (then again, in the world of black thrash, who needs variation?). The exception is 'Prophesy of the Evening Star', which is more of a traditional metal song (this tune also figures in the corpus of Barbatos mainman Yasuyuki Suzuki's other band Abigail), and 'Blond Hair Bitch', 'I Love to Eat Pussy', and the legendary 'Dick Is Fucking Big' which are all out hardcore punk songs.
The vocals are harsh and semi-guttural, and the lyrics deal with various extreme topics, such as the holocaust, war, Satanism, and nuclear apocalypse as well as sillier and kind of cheesy themes as indicated by titles such as 'Satanik Beer', 'I Love to Eat Pussy', 'Blond Hair Bitch', and the epically titled 'Dick Is Fucking Big'.
The production is raw and unpolished and will probably put off a lot of people who prefer pristine modern productions, but I think it suits the primitive music pretty well.
Fans of black thrash metal should check out this release, and it might also appeal to some fans of crust punk and hardcore punk - if they can live with the at times silly lyrical subject matter.
