Vehemency
Blood Red Fog's first release, a demo tape with 4 tracks. Burzum influences are clear, especially in the shrieks, but Blood Red Fog is clearly not just a clone band. As expected, the production is rehearsal quality, so it is quite raw.
The music is atmospheric black metal with melancholic touch. I can also hear some almost folky melodies ("Angels of Hate") that remind me of Goatmoon. The third track "Follower" is the most crushing song of the demo with its beautiful melody. The same track can be found from the first full-length album, and I'm glad they picked it to the full-length too, because it's one of the best tracks Blood Red Fog has put out. Another highlight is the ten-minute "Time of the Final Peace" that shows more interesting compositional style than the first two tracks that are pretty generic, if compared.
Demo I is certainly not the peak of Blood Red Fog's career, it's just the beginning that shows that the band has potential, as proved by their later releases.
