PIKE 10 - THE SILENT PICTURE BOOK is the 6th and final album released by BUCKETHEAD in 2012 and his 40th studio solo album overall. It was released on 20 Sept with “Rackss” and “March Of The Slunks” and is yet another all instrumental album exclusively played by BH although Dan Monti and Albert are still on board for mixing, programming and producing. This one has 9 tracks and it clocks in at 29 minutes & 47 seconds. Tracks are clearly delineated
"Dweller by the Dark Stream" (2:46) is a heavy alternative metal rocker. It has a steady drumbeat and bass with a super heavy guitar riff going on. Very thrash metal when it slows down
"Blind Cyclops" (4:11) starts off as an electronic thumpbeat with a bluesy guitar. Kinda bluesy actually
"Flea Market" (3:31) is a slowed down rocker. Sounds a little countrified actually. It basically unfolds in a predictable melodic mellow manner, especially in the lead guitar department. Nothing special but pleasant
"Three Steps" (2:54) is not a Lynyrd Skynryrd remake but rather a very bass heavy energetic rocker that only utilizes bass and drums. Well, until the sizzling guitar solo comes in. Short but cool
"Beam of Omega" (3:05) is spacey like the title suggests. Echoed synth parts and then come the drums. It evolves into a typical BH type of track with echoed guitars, steady bass and drums and nothing really out of the ordinary
"Whirlibird" (3:02) is a super heavy metal bonanza. It is thrashy at first and then turns mellow and then thrashy and then mellow and then dot dot dot dot dot dot
"Ropelight" (2:46) is a slow spacey track. Lots of ambience backing a slow guitar riff
"Flashes" (1:07) is an über-mellow guitar ballad. Bo-o-o-\ ring ring why don’t you give me a call
"Melting Man Part 2" (6:37) starts all distorted and mellow, man! It’s like psycho=freaky! …but becums very predictable and BH ballad friendly like OMG! Ha ven’t we h ea rd th i ssssss B4?
OK album but nothing OMG
