Fire and dynamite...

Genre: hard rock / classic metal

Bullet owe a lot to AC/DC, having emulated both the guitar sound of the Angus brothers, the vocal style of Brian Johnson (meets Udo Dirkschneider), and the heavier type of hard rock / metal that AC/DC played back in the 90s.

However, on "Highway Pirates", it seems that the horizon of inspiration has broadened a bit, and I hear elements from other regions within the word of classic hard rock - and I think this is a good development. It's not that I do not like Bullet's AC/DC-inspired style, but, I just like the idea of bringing in more elements to make the music a bit more colorful.

The title track is a good example of this, as it sounds more inspired by Deep Purple and Rainbow's more uptempo tracks, and makes me think of "Kill the King" more specifically, and "Into the Night" alsmo makes me think of early Rainbow. "Fire and Dynamite", anothe awesome track from this album, is more in the classic 80s metal department, which also applies to "Heavy Metal Dynamite" and "Citylights" (although their choruses are quite AD/DC-esque).

Bullet also make use of twin lead guitars, which can be traced back to the likes of Thin Lizzy rather than AC/DC, and Bullet's guitar solos are not as blues-deriven as Angus Young's solos are, and I like how these elements actually work wall against the backdrop of AC/DC-inspired rock music.

While not really original, this is a solid hard rocking album. So cock in or cock out, you are certain to rock out with this album.
