"Dragged Down a Dead End Path" is the debut full-length studio album by US, Boulder, Colorado based crust/grindcore act Call of the Void. The album was released through Relapse Records in March 2013.
The music on the album is loud, distorted, aggressive, fast-paced and edgy crust/grindcore. The 10 tracks on the album are not out and out blasting grindcore though. There are an aggressive mid-paced hardcore edge to the music too and the tracks are therefore varied enough for the album to be entertaining all the way through. The sound production is professional, raw, and suits the music well. I guess artists like Pig Destroyer and in some sections Converge are valid references, but Call of the Void are not as original or distinct sounding as their collegues.
...less will do though and "Dragged Down a Dead End Path" is overall a very raw and enjoyable release by Call of the Void. A 3.5 star (70%) rating is warranted.
