"Incarnation of Morbidity" is the first demo recording by swedish death metal act Cemetary. The demo was independently released in April 1991. Cemetary formed in 1989 and released two 1991 demos before being signed by Black Mark Production for the release of their 1992 debut full-length studio album "An Evil Shade of Grey".
"Incarnation of Morbidity" was recorded at Sunlight Studio, Stockholm, Sweden with producer/engineer Tomas Skogsberg and it´s features a fat, heavy, and meaty sound. It´s actually a very well produced demo release and the short intro and two main tracks "The Funeral (Eternal Rest)" and "Beyond the Grave" are all presented in the best way possible. Cemetary aren´t you´re regular old school Stockholm death metal act (Dismember, Entombed, Carnage, Unleashed), although the slightly faster pace on "Beyond the Grave" does remind me slightly of Unleashed. otherwise Cemetary play a heavier and more doom/death metal oriented death metal style with the occasional melancholic lead guitar melody added a gloomy atmosphere. The vocals are powerful and well performed death metal growling.
Upon conclusion "Incarnation of Morbidity" is a good quality demo release from Cemetary, and while the slower pace and more rudimentary riffing style and drumming aren´t quite as interesting or as inventive as the output of some of their contemporaries, this is still a worthy (and well produced) listen. A 3 star (60%) rating is warranted.
