The cloud upon the sanctuary...
Genre: black metal / thrash metal
Having a couple of demos under their belt, Chilean black metal madmen released their debut EP on Blood Harvest earlier this year. There are four tracks on the release, all of which clock in at around 2:45 minutes, and, if you like, all-out black-thrash mayhem, then you are in for a treat.
Release opens with an ultra fast drum-fill and then explodes into an aggressive black-thrash onslaught, as the listener is constantly bombarded with aggressive thrash riffs and simple black metal figures accompanied by blastbeats and harsh, delay-drowned vocals. This applies to all four tracks, with 'havohej' being my favorite because of a surprising change of tempo that introduces some more crusty figures. The production is considerably lo-fi, and the performance is sloppy, but that is of course part of the aesthetics of old school filthy black metal, so I guess it's a positive trait.
Fans of old school filthy black metal and dirty black thrash should check this EP out.
