"Our Kingdom of Decay" is the 3rd full-length studio album by Danish melodic death metal act Compos Mentis. The album was released through Strange Ears in June 2009. Compos Mentis was formed in 1996 in Esbjerg, and released their debut full-length studio album "Fragments of a Withered Dream" in 2003.
Stylistically the music on the album is Swedish influenced melodeath. Artists like Soilwork and In Flames come to mind. It´s so and so with the originality, but the band are really well playing and the tracks are generally well composed. Add to that a powerful sounding production and you got a decent quality product. Not necessarily the most innovative product, but it´s hard to deny quality. The tracks are generally powerful, melodic, and with the aggressive vocals by Jesper Heinsvig in front the outcome should be very satisfying for fans of the genre. I´d say a 3 star (60%) rating is deserved.
