This is what happens when you take the blues and you immerse it in acid under an atmosphere of weed smoke for a month. With psychedelia and blues in perfect balance - said balance embodied perfectly by the way opening track Strange Brew drifts off in a tie-dyed haze to be replaced by the grumbling blues riffs of Sunshine of Your Love - the album captures the spirit of its era in terms of its cover art and influences, but fails to provide equally exciting, colourful and diverse compositions. The closing goof-off Mother's Lament tries the patience a little, but how many will reach it when the preceding songs are such a turgid collection of drab dirges? As good as Sunshine of Your Love is, the album lacks the variety necessary to stop listening to it from becoming a chore.

Brilliant milestone album from legendary masters of psychedelic fusion. Every song sizzles with vitality and this features some of their most infamous legendary songs such as Sunshine of Your Love and Strange Brew. Tales of Brave Ulysses is mind bending with Clapton's God like descending wah-wah guitar and his riffs on this album changed the face of rock indefinitely.

Jack Bruce's bass is a machine of power keeping it all together and the unsurpassed drums of Ginger Baker are phenomenal. This is legendary in the annals of rock; a milestone of the genius of Cream. Listen now and allow your mind to be hypnotised by the sounds of 1967.

Sinkadotentree

This may not have the legendary status of say "Sgt. Peppers" or "Are You Experienced" but man this is one influencial album by this power trio. This was recorded at Atlantic Studios in New York City and released in 1967 the same year as the other two albums i mentioned. This is an album that surprised me somewhat. Sure i was familiar with "Strange Brew", "Sunshine Of Your Love" and "Tales Of Brave Ulysses" and all three are fantastic tracks but it was songs like "World Of Pain", "Dance The Night Away" and "Swlabr" that help make this a strong and consistant record. The latter song i mentioned stands for "She walked like a bearded rainbow" and features some great interplay instrumentally, and it cooks. Of course "Sunshine Of Your Love" would become the biggest hit off of this album. Talk about some nasty guitar and it's surprisingly heavy. The album cover is memorable as well bringing to mind the psychedelic vibe of that era for sure. For me this is a strong 4 star album that i've bumped up to 4.5 stars for it's originality and influence. A must !
