1967/ 1976
this is the last (and definitive!!!) release with Blackmore. This is the true winning element in this live album. Recorded in Germany and UK this live album is good for new Deep Purple fans. But since already in the 80's I was a Deep Purple fan I think that the 70's material was and it is better because with no connection with AOR and because too Heavy in soul and veins. It is difficult to love songs as "Anya", a great song (undoubtedly, of course) but "Highway Star" or "Black Night" have another type of magic... The magic of a new musical genre not still encoded, naive all to be invented. So these songs are Heavy Metal, Hard Rock, Blues, Progressive Rock. The new songs are good but too AOR, easy to read, without the power of the 70's songs. In this live album these differences are not in evidence as that this live album be a compilation. This is good but, in truth, is also the limit of these Purple...
In definitive I think that this live album is good, because a testament of Blackmore's Purple but, in truth, it is only another good Purple's release. With tons of magic, of course, and not only in old songs from the 70's.
