Fistful of metal...
Genre: thrash 'n' roll metal
Okay, so this is a thrash 'n' roll band? What the hell does that mean? Well, let's check Delirium Tremens' third album out.
The tracks on this album are uptempo thrashy and aggressive speed metal affairs - and some songs are really fast. Infused into the Delirium Tremens sound are elements from hard rock metal and punk, and - interestingly - that results in something that sounds more like very early Metallica than the blues-thrashers in Violent Playground or even the proto-thrashers in Motörhead (whose influence, it should be pointed out, is present on the album). Just check out a track like the title track.
A rather awesomely demented attack of fast and dirty rock 'n' roll meets thrash/speed metal, this album show that the band members are pretty good musicians. They have to be in order to pull music this fast off without being sloppy. The vocals are a bit on the punky side, and the production is not exactly polished - but who would want their thrash 'n' roll metal sound polished anyway?
Fans of speed metal and proto-thrash bands like Motörhead and Venom should check this album out.
