"One (Hellbound)" is the debut full-length studio album by US thrash metal act Demiricous. The album was released by Metal Blade Records in January 2006. The regular edition contains 12 tracks while the Japanese edition features the bonus track "Crucifice".
The music on the album is traditional and very Slayer influenced thrash metal. The musicianship is solid but IMO the vocals are too extreme ( almost screaming/ growling) and even worse monotone. The vocals really don´t suit the music very well. The album ends up sounding like Slayer with Angela Gossow ( Arch Enemy) providing the vocals. It´s too bad the band wear their influence(s) so much on their sleeve, because it´s obvious that they have the talent to create quality thrash metal. As one of the positive things about the album, the production is really powerful and suits the music perfectly.
So there are both good and bad things about "One (Hellbound)" but overall the album is a quality release that deserves a 3 star rating. With a more original songwriting style and a less monotone/ extreme vocal delivery I think Demiricous could have me hooked.
