"Another Paradise" is the third attempt of Italian's heavy metal act, Edge of Forever, and while the second one is decent on my ears, this is actually quite boring and far from what many reviews stated as an essential purchase. Alessandro Del Vecchio, the mastermind, singer, and keyboardist, actually had left me a good impression with some projects he’s involved, but man how this album suffered from a terribly average songwriting. Del Vecchio's vocal is insanely good and his keyboard delivery is stunning, but Edge of Forever sounded just like a one man show with his vocal/keys dominating the other instruments.
Three great songs which also my fave here are : "I Won't Call You", a ballad track with a beautiful AOR touch and superb chorus; the remake of Flashdance soundtrack, "What A Feeling"; and the uptempo track with a monstrous riffs of "Against The Wall". Several good songs that worth a listen are "Distant Voices", "Lonely", and "Edge of Life" but the rest are just forgettable.
The production value is very good but with too many mediocre tracks, it seems like a wasteful effort. If they could polish some songs, replaced couple of fillers with some powerful heavy metal tracks, "Another Paradise" will be in much better shape. Buy this only if you're a big fan of the band, otherwise, it's better to spend your hard-earned money on other better releases.
