Australian's Electrik Dynamite throws some melodic metal fireball with 'Hair.Denim.Sex.Metal' which almost confused me into thinking this is an extravagant sleaze act and even weirdly reminded me of RHCP's monumental release 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik', but both of them are irrelevant as the band plays a straight-forward metal riffs and pour those songs with melodic sugar.
I'll say, musically, this album's influences and style were derived from mid 80s glam metal as well as NWoBHM. 'So Alive' has that typical glam gang-shout chorus or 'Love Tonight' is clearly a heavy metal tune and I can recall a similarity with Iron Maiden's 'Wasting Love' pattern. The strong of this album is on the riffs but on the contrary, I'm struggling to get past the singing style. Check out several faves of mine such as 'After Dark', 'Night Light', or 'Love Is Fire', all of them are packed with sensational riffage, nice harmonic solos, and also wonderful choruses.
The rest of the song except the brilliant 'Built To Rock', sadly were quite average at best. 'Midnight Rider' has potential but not close enough to edge the strong tunes. 'Ik Hou Van Jou' is too long and should have been left out. The musicianship spotlight is on the guitar part and I found the drumming part to be patchy. However, the band successfully made an album without bad songs at all, and time will shape them to have more quality release in the future. Good album!
