UMUR
"Aeons Past" is the debut full-length studio album by US death metal act Element. The album was released through Brutal Bands in January 2007. It was recorded and mixed by Matt Sotelo at Legion Studios and features KC Howard from Decrepit Birth on drums.

The music on the album is sci-fi themed technical death metal with brutal unintelligible vocals. The sound production makes the music slightly more accessible then most brutal technical death metal releases, but this is still fast, brutal, and played with great technical skills. Because of the sci-fi themed lyrics and imagery (maybe one of the most beautiful cover artworks I´ve ever seen) Origin is probably the most valid reference I can come up with, but Element are slightly less intense compared to their colleagues. At 30:04 minutes "Aeons Past" is almost over before you notice it but it´s a perfect length for a release in this demanding style. The quality of the tracks are generally high even though it´s not the kind of release where it´s easy to name highlights. No tracks in particular stand out from the others.

Element don´t exactly invent the wheel on "Aeons Past" and their brand of brutal technical death metal is not instantly recognisable as the sound of Element, but the album certainly is both very well played, well produced, and relatively well written and therefore a 3.5 star (70%) rating isn´t all wrong.
