Lovely LITA FORD may have played second best to Joan Jett in terms of success as a member of the legendary all-girl band The Runaways, but she tasted a little bit of commercial success on her 3rd album simply titled LITA. This is an album that I have avoided for a long time simply because I can't stand the first single “Kiss Me Deadly” which is a trashy biker babe song that actually hit the top 40 in the US. After finally listening to this album I realize that every song on here is better than that one.
Lita embarked on her solo career in the 80s but failed to have commercial success until she hired Sharon Osbourne to manage her. This decision proved to be a good move since not only did she score a hit with “Kiss Me Deadly (ugh)” but actually hit the top 10 in the US with the much much better metal ballad “Close My Eyes Forever” with none other than Ozzy Osbourne. This album is definitely a pop metal radio friendly endeavor but every song OTHER than “Kiss Me...” sounds like a well-written blues oriented hard rock track and I like this album much more than I ever imagined. Not exactly an album that you must obtain at all costs but a very pleasant album that allows Lita Ford to show off her melodic singing abilities.
