"Anatomia Corporis Humani" is the third demo recording by Swedish death metal act Grave. The demo was independently released in August 1989. It´s the successor to the February 1989 "Sexual Mutilation" demo, although the two demos are bridged by Grave´s side-project Putrefaction releasing their sole demo "Painful Death" in March 1989. "Anatomia Corporis Humani" features four tracks and a total playing time of 15:14 minutes. Only "Extremely Rotten Flesh" would make it unto Grave´s 1991 debut full-length studio album "Into the Grave" (Century Media Records, August 1991).
Stylistically the material on "Anatomia Corporis Humani" is old school death metal to the bone, and Grave have taken the brutality factor up a notch since the first two demos. The vocals are more or less unintelligible distorted growling (almost animalistic in nature), the guitars have been downtuned considerably, and the sound production is dark and brutal. Grave´s core sound had been established on the early demos, but here the intent to be the most morbid and brutal Swedish death metal act was finalized. No other Swedish death metal band sounded as sick and brutal as Grave did at this point. A 3 - 3.5 star (65%) rating is warranted.
